FAQs
Who is eligible for a virtual dermatology appointment?
At this time, virtual visits are only available to patients who reside in Texas. Due to medical licensing regulations, you must physically be located in Texas during your appointment.
*you do not have to be a Texas resident for skin care product consultations
Do you take insurance?
No, TaraMD is a direct-pay, cash-only practice. This allows us to offer longer, more personalized appointments without the limitations of insurance networks or rushed visits. You’ll always know your cost upfront—no surprise bills. However, you may use your FSA or HSA card to pay for services.
Can I still get reimbursed by my insurance?
Possibly. We can provide a superbill after your visit, which you may submit to your insurance for out-of-network reimbursement, depending on your plan. Please note: reimbursement is not guaranteed.
What skin conditions do you treat?
Tara is a board certified dermatologist trained to treat the hair, skin and nails. If you're unsure whether your concern is a fit, feel free to reach out.
Where are visits conducted?
All appointments are virtual through a HIPAA-compliant video platform. You can receive expert dermatology care from the comfort and privacy of your home.
Who is this practice best for?
TaraMD was created with women of color in mind—those seeking culturally competent, expert care for skin concerns often overlooked in traditional settings. Although this is the goal of TaraMD, Tara is a board certified dermatologist trained to treat the hair, skin, and nails in all populations.
Do you prescribe medications or recommend products?
Yes. When medically appropriate, prescriptions can be sent to our preferred pharmacy. We also offer personalized product guidance for over-the-counter skincare.
What’s included in the Glow Up Bundle or Clear Skin Plan?
These packages include a set number of visits designed to guide your skincare journey over time. You’ll get a treatment roadmap, ongoing support, and adjustments based on how your skin responds. If you’re unsure of which plan, start with a standard consultation.
